What does LabPair want me to do?
LabPair helps researchers increase the quantity and quality of their publications by leveraging valuable resources that are frequently discarded in the research process. LabPair works by taking one researcher's underutilized resources and finding another researcher who needs them, thereby generating publication-driven collaborations. Matches are based on posts that users create advertising resources that they possess and want to share. LabPair has standardized posting forms that accommodate every type of resource and scientific field. We need your help to assess the performance of our platform in real-world scientific applications.
Using our system, we want you to create posts about underutilized data, samples, and skill sets in your laboratory that could be used in a collaboration and/or publication. If posting about data, you will NOT upload the raw data.
Here are some examples of things you could create posts for:
- Unpublished data
- Negative data (from properly executed experiments with positive controls)
- Orphan data (data that don't fit the 'story' of the lab's other publications, ancillary findings)
- Unused, banked, leftover samples of any type
- Expertise/skill sets/services that you want to make available to others in exchange for authorship or fees
- Laboratory supplies that may provide educational use but cannot be used for R&D due to being opened, recently expired, obsolete, etc. (and will otherwise be discarded).
What will LabPair do with the information that I provide?
The information that you provide will be used to help LabPair catalog, sort, query, match, and retrieve information pertaining to a variety of scientific disciplines. Your information will also be used to help develop artificial intelligence algorithms.
You will always have full control over your information and you can add/edit/delete it at any time. Initially you posts will be private, but they will eventually be visible to other LabPair members. If you work for a principal investigator, their permission must be obtained prior to your post being released to the LabPair network. We take care of this for you by sending an email to your PI that contains the post and a simple one-click approval button.
